Stratford-upon-Avon

Unas palabras para hablar de uno de mis rincones favoritos del mundo. Esta preciosa población situada a orillas del rio Avon es mundialmente conocida por ser la cuna de William Shakespeare y por haber permanecido casi intacta en el tiempo.

Al pasear por sus calles, uno tiene la sensación de haber retrocedido en el tiempo, nada parece haber cambiado. Es el lugar perfecto para pasar horas buscando libros antiguos, para poder ver representaciones

de las obras de Shakespeare 365 días al año, para dar un paseo junto al río...

The Bridges of Madison County

Muchos conocereis la película, pero a mi me fascinó la novela de Robert James Waller.

It tells the story of a married but lonely Italian woman ( Meryl Streep), living in 1960s Madison County, Iowa, who engages in an affair with a National Geographic photographer (Clint Eastwood) from who is visiting Madison County in order to create a photographic essay on the covered bridges in the area. 

The novel is presented as a novelization of a true story, but it is in fact entirely fiction. However, the author has stated in an interview that there are strong similarities between the main character and himself.

The novel is one of the bestselling books of the twentieth century. It was originally published in the UK under the title Love in Black and White.

The Bridges of Madison County was made into a film on the same name in 1995.

Una peli diferente...

Los Limoneros.

Esta historia tiene el cisma palestino-israelí como telón de fondo. 

Salma, una viuda palestina, decide librar una batalla contra el ministro de Defensa de Israel, cuya casa linda con su campo de limoneros, en la frontera entre Israel y los Territorios Ocupados.

La policía no tarda en decretar que los árboles de Salma representan una auténtica amenaza para el ministro de Defensa y su familia, y ordena que se talen. Pero Salma decide luchar para salvar sus árboles y su vida. 

Es un claro ejemplo de la situación que se vive en la zona. La vida de Salma es el espejo de una realidad que muchos ojos no quieren ver.

La Dame aux Camélias

La Dame aux camélias est un roman d`Alexandre Dumas fils (1848), inspiré par son amour pour une courtisane.

Summary :

The theme of the Lady of the Camellias is a love story between Marguerite Gautier, a "demi-mondaine" ("courtesane" ) suffering from tuberculosis , and a young provincial bourgeois, Armand Duval. 

Armand falls in love with Marguerite and ultimately becomes her lover, convincing her to turn her back on her life as a "courtesane" and live with him in the countryside. 

This idyllic existence is broken by Arman's father, who, concerned by the scandal created by the illicit relationship and fearful that it will destroy his daughter's (Armand's sister's) chances of marriage, convinces Marguerite to leave Armand, who believes, up until Marguerite's death, that she has left him for another man...

Memorias de Africa

In 20th century colonial Kenya, a Danish baroness/plantation owner ( Meryl Streep) has a passionate but ultimately doomed love affair with a free-sprited  hunter (Robert Redford).

The story based  on the autobiographical book  written by K. Blixen, which was published in 1937. This film received 28 film awards. The book describes events during the period from 1914 to 1931 concerning the European settlers and the native people in the bush country of Kenya.
