Virginia Woolf

Anoche ví al película "las Horas" y hoy no he podido evitar dedicar el blog a la gran escritora inglesa. Tampoco puedo evitar hablar de ella en su propio idioma:

She was an English author, essayist, publisher, and writer of short stories, regarded as one of the modernist literary figures of the twentieth century.

Woolf was a significant figure in London literary society. Her most famous works include Mrs Dalloway (1925), To the Lighthouse (1927) and Orlando (1928), and the A Room of One´s Own (1929).

The Hours tells the story of Laura Brown, a pregnant housewife, who is planning a party for her husband, but she can't stop reading the novel 'Mrs. Dalloway' ( 1951) and also the story of  Clarissa Vaughn, a modern woman living in present times is throwing a party for her friend Richard, a famous author dying of AIDS. These two stories are simultaneously linked to the work and life of Virginia Woolf, who's writing the novel mentioned before.

Mrs Dalloway goes around London in the morning, getting ready to host a party that evening. The nice day reminds her of her youth  and makes her wonder about her choice of husband; she married the reliable Richard Dalloway instead of the enigmatic and demanding Peter Walsh. Peter reintroduces these conflicts by paying a visit that morning.
